How to Live Stream Mass

There are not many resources out there that focus on how to live stream Mass, and I thought it might be useful to share some of the resources I have found on this topic.

Fr Ian VanHeusen and Timothy Robbins discuss the technology that they are using while they live stream Mass in North Carolina and why they have chosen to live stream. This is a 50 minute video where they look at various options and budgets.

The USCCB (United States Conference of Catholic Bishops) have also provided some short practical guidance in a leaflet. This is aimed at those who just want to get started without spending lots of money, but still need to get the basics right.

Closer to home in the UK, this blog post gives some more details about the experience of streaming Masses online, as well as proving some tips about how they did it in their parish in Hexham.

Finally, this information from Today Creative provides a top-level overview of ‘Taking your church online‘, while then going into more details about the technical side of this. One note worth adding to this – as of late-April, Canon cameras have had a software update that means they can now be used to directly live stream, without the need for something like the Elgato Cam Link 4K or other video capture device.
